Colour
Colour is largely responsible for creating the mood of a room -
flooring is the second biggest area after your walls. You'll
want your carpet to work back with some key pieces in your room -
it could be to blend with the wall colour or to pick up a key
colour in some dramatic curtains or a favourite upholstered
sofa.
Darker colours absorb light and can make a room appear smaller -
ideal if you want to make a large room appear cosier
Lighter colours reflect the light
and create a sense of spaciousness

Make sure you take carpet samples home and see how the colour
works in both daylight and artificial light against all those key
interior pieces. Carpets can generally appear around 20%
lighter on the floor when laid compared to a small sample.
