Measure Up
If you're looking to buy carpet, it's handy to have an
approximate idea of how much you might need before you make a visit
to a dealer. That way you can have a more useful conversation
about the likely costs.
Use our online floor calculator to work out how much
carpet you might need.
All you need is a tape measure to measure up the length and
width of your room and the calculator will work out how many square
metres it is. For rooms that aren't a classic square or
oblong, break the area into segments and measure these
separately.
Just be sure when talking to your carpet dealer, that you are
getting your carpet price quoted per square metres, not linear
metres (which is the standard width of a carpet roll at
3.66m). If it is a linear metre price, simply
divide it by 3.66.
Be sure to factor in costs such as underlay and installation and
ask your dealer for recommendations on the best option for the
carpet you choose.
