Naturally beautiful

Cavalier Bremworth uses only the finest grades of New Zealand
wool to bring you the purest shades of colour. New Zealand wool is
naturally very white and free of black fibres, making it easier for
us to produce dense and uniform colour. New Zealand wool is a
sustainable fibre, farmed outdoors and naturally long and strong. A
unique spiral crimp built into the wool fibre means wool carpet
will retain its looks for longer because it has natural bounce-back
abilities.
Because quality is at the very heart of what we do, we buy the
wool directly from New Zealand farmers, scour, dye and spin the
yarn in our own plants and make the carpet at our tufting plant in
Auckland.
100% sustainable
fibre
Wool sourced from New Zealand sheep is a totally sustainable,
renewable and biodegradable fibre. 100%.
Wool fibre takes only a fraction of the energy used to produce
synthetic fibre. While there are some glamorous sounding
"eco-bling" fibres being aggressively marketed - if you take a look
past the green-washing you'll find that the majority of the content
is synthetic.
Easy to
maintain
The structure of wool fibre has a natural protective membrane
which acts to repel moisture and as a natural stain resister.
Because it can also absorb a large quantity of moisture without
feeling wet, wool carpet doesn't conduct static electricity in the
way synthetic carpets do. Less static electricity means less
dirt.
Properly maintained carpet only needs to be vacuumed once or twice
weekly and periodic deep cleaning by a professional. The overall
maintenance cost of carpet is significantly lower than hard floors.

Environmentally friendly
Cavalier Bremworth is determined to lead the industry in
providing a quality wool carpet that minimises the impact on the
environment.
The company was the first in the world to gain an
internationally recognised eco-label across all its wool carpets.
It is the only carpet manufacturer to gain Environmental Choice
accreditation from both Environmental
Choice New Zealand (ECNZ) and Good Environmental Choice
Australia (GECA) across its range of wool carpets. This means we
meet environmental best practice standards in terms of materials
used, energy consumed, water conserved, waste produced and
discharged, and emissions. This accreditation covers all Cavalier
Bremworth and Bremworth Collection carpets.
The company also has ISO14001 accreditation, demonstrating a
commitment to take responsibility for its manufacturing footprint
and continually improve its performance. Cavalier Bremworth was a
foundation member of the New Zealand Green Building Council and all
our carpets gain points for both Indoor Air Quality and
Materials on the Green Star Rating Tools.
A
humidity regulator
Wool has a natural ability to regulate the humidity of an
interior. Wool absorbs moisture when the atmosphere is damp and
releases it when the atmosphere is dry, creating a more comfortable
environment.
A European Community Respiratory Health study found that it is the
growth of indoor mould due to dampness in the home that has the
biggest impact on adult asthma sufferers - wool's ability to
regulate moisture levels can prevent mould growth.
Naturally non-allergenic
Wool carpets are naturally non-allergenic. They naturally absorb
and filter airborne volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - unwanted
toxins and odours that can cause irritation to humans. Carpets bind
the allergy-causing substances tightly, reducing those circulating
in the breathing zone where they are more easily inhaled. The
German asthma and allergy federation (DAAB) looked at the content
of fine dust particles in the air over smooth floors and carpeted
floors - findings showed that indoor air in a carpeted room
contained less than half the amount of fine particulate dust than
the smooth floors.
Even in Sweden, which has seen a massive reduction in the amount
of broadloom carpet used in the past decade, there has still been
an increase in allergic reactions and other environmental
sensitivities. So you can have your carpet, and still breathe
easily.
While allergens such as house dust mites do settle in the carpet
(far less so than bedding), they can be vacuumed away using a good
vacuum cleaner, preferably with a HEPA filter system. However,
heavily worn carpet will not clean as effectively.
Thermal insulation reduces energy
costs
Wool carpet helps keep you warm in winter and cool in summer
because of its superb insulation properties and its ability to
regulate humidity. The thicker the carpet, the better the level of
insulation provided. Studies have shown energy costs can be
significantly reduced for both heating and cooling by up to 12%
with a wool carpet when there are temperature differences between
the indoor air and that under the floor.
Noise
insulation
Wool carpets act as a fantastic noise insulator, reducing any
ambient noise and eliminating any scraping noises from
furniture. Studies have shown noise reduction of up to 55%
where carpet is used. Noise pollution can significantly
impact on your health, comfort and productivity. Wool
carpet dramatically improves the acoustics of busy spaces,
absorbing sound and softening the volume.
Easier
on the body
With its natural cushioning, wool carpet is much gentler on the
body and provides immense softness and comfort underfoot.
Wool carpet is the best flooring option for anyone standing or
walking for extended hours, whether that be at home or work.
Fire resistant
wool
Wool is the safest carpet fibre because the moisture content
makes it difficult to ignite. It burns slowly and is easy to
extinguish. Burns from cigarettes and sparks from a fire will
cause minimal damage to a wool carpet because it will smoulder and
self-extinguish. In a major fire, wool carpets contribute much less
in terms of smoke and toxic gas formations than most other
materials. Wool carpet provides an added insulation against heat
and flames for the underlay and underlying floor surface.
