The Cavalier Bremworth journey began in 1959 when Doug Bremner founded the Bremworth Carpet Company from a small factory in Papatoetoe, South Auckland. But even a committed innovator like Bremner could never have predicted the levels of advancement and growth that were to unfold.
The official Woolmark seal of quality was launched and the following year, Bremworth became the world's first carpet company entitled to use the Woolmark symbol. That same year, Bremworth also became one of the first to advertise on television and its dominant use of the medium through the years helped establish the Bremworth brand as a household name.
UEB Industries, one of New Zealand's biggest corporations, bought Bremworth and established spinning and scouring plants throughout the country.
Cavalier Carpets of New Zealand was founded by Tony Timpson and Grant Biel.
A spinning plant was built at Wanganui.
Cavalier Carpets listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange as Cavalier Corporation.
